Dear USA Wrestling members and parents,

In our ongoing effort to ensure a safe environment in the sport of wrestling, USA Wrestling is providing to you the newsletter below from the U.S. Center for SafeSport.

Welcome to the first edition of the SafeSport Education & Outreach newsletter!

New Federal Law to Protect Minor Athletes

Senate Bill 534, Protecting Young Victims from Sexual Abuse and Safe Sport Authorization Act of 2017, was signed into law February 14, 2018, and is effective immediately. The bill amends two federal statutes: (1) the Victims of Child Abuse Act of 1990 and (2) the Amateur Sports Act of 1978. This fact sheet provides additional information about the new law. In the coming weeks, the Center will be reviewing and analyzing the new law and reaching out to experts and organizations for guidance on implementation. We welcome your questions and input as the Center develops guidance to support implementation.
