Parent Involvement

Parents can play many roles in sport: current or former athlete, coach, fan, motivator, role model or critic. A few studies have shown that family members may influence an athlete’s involvement and achievement in sport more than coaches. Parents also are the first and most critical agents at socializing sports.

Olympic Training Center Camp

Big Brother Future Freestyle Camps was created and designed by Olympic Gold Medalist Steve Fraiser to help promote and encourage Olympic style wrestling among scholastic athletes.   The Maryland National Team has been invited out with a group of ten plus wrestlers the last four years.

The Olympic Training Center hosts resident athletes of all Olympic sports in the US.

In addition, wrestlers have the unique opportunity to train along side future and current Olympic Team members and receive world class instruction from Olympic Team coaches.  Final day is an ascent of Pikes Peak!

Coaches, Parents and Athletes:

Attached is the flyer and registration form for the 2016 Big Brother/Future Freestyle Camp at the USOTC in March. Previously, USA Wrestling graciously allowed the MSWA to bring 10 wrestlers each year, however the process has slightly changed and all applications must go directly through them for approval.

This flyer is an “application” for the camp, not a guaranteed spot. No travel arrangements should be made before receiving confirmation from either Michael Clayton or Jaimie McNab of USA Wrestling. We have only 45 athlete beds for this camp and expect to have many more applications. Note: we do offer commuter pricing options.

Please note the deadline date for your application as well as the date we will send out confirmation emails for acceptance. Please indicate on your application the event placement for your athlete that will correspond to the appropriate camp fee.

All athletes (and coaches) attending the camp must be current members of USA Wrestling (www.USAWmembership.com) and all coaches must have completed the USOC Safe Sport Training (http://training.teamusa.org/store/details/1).

Please send your completed application to both Jaimie McNab (jmcnab@usawrestling.org) and Michael Clayton (mclayton@usawrestling.org) via email or fax (please no direct mail).
Once your athlete is accepted to the camp, we will then accept payment by credit card or check.

USA Wrestling is excited to provide this World-Class experience and training opportunity for your athlete!

GOOD LUCK!
