Ohio State senior and Olympic champion Kyle Snyder was named the 2018 AAU James E. Sullivan Award winner, given to the best amateur athlete in the nation, on Tuesday night.

He won the award over other prominent collegiate athletes, including finalists Joel Berry II of North Carolina's men's basketball team and Nebraska setter Kelly Hunter.

Snyder became the second Ohio State athlete to be given the honor in the last four years. Fellow Buckeye and current NFL star Ezekiel Elliot won in 2014.

Widely considered the greatest college wrestler of all time, Snyder won three straight heavyweight titles while with the Buckeyes. He won the NCAA, world and Olympic titles in 2016 — known as the wrestling Triple Crown.
